BUNYODKOR STADIUM

Bunyodkor Stadium is one of the newest and largest sports facilities in the country. In the capital there are many stadiums and sports complexes, an institute of physical education and an Olympic reserve college. The goals are common to all - to attract young people to a healthy lifestyle and instill a love of sports. The names of domestic athletes are heard more and more often on the world stage, and the collection of gold medals brought by athletes to Uzbekistan is growing.

In order for the level of training to correspond to the world level, it was decided to renovate one of the country’s stadiums using modern standards and technologies. In 2009, construction of a stadium began on the site of the then old MHSC in the Chilanzar district. Joan Laporta, at that moment the current president of Barcelona, took part in laying the foundation of this grandiose building. Construction lasted 3 years - until the fall of 2012. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov was personally present at the opening. The opening date of the stadium is symbolic - football in Uzbekistan is exactly 100 years old.

In addition to the performances of pop stars, on the opening day there was a friendly match “Bunyodkor” - “Pakhtakor”, the two largest clubs of the capital fought on the new field. In 2013, the first international match took place - the Uzbekistan team defeated the Lebanon team. After this, the stadium became the “home” for the national team, taking over this right from the larger Pakhtakor stadium.

The stadium ranks second in the country in terms of capacity, second only to Pakhtakor. On its territory of 56 hectares, Bunyodkor can accommodate 34,000 spectators. The two-story structure is divided into sectors, including catering outlets, a swimming pool, a football school for children and teenagers, and even fitness centers. In addition, within its walls is located the Museum of the History of Football of Uzbekistan.

There are also many places for wheelchair users. Two huge monitors broadcast matches and competitions. There is a parking lot directly under the stadium.

The main field, in accordance with international standards, measures 105 by 68 meters. Modern drainage and heated surfaces create the most comfortable conditions for athletes at any time of the year. In addition to the main one, there are 7 more football fields.

Multiple entrances provide security at the stadium. There is always security present to keep order in the stands.

Today, all the iconic matches of Uzbekistan take place at the Bunyodkor stadium, which is why interest in it from guests of the capital is only growing. Modern training equipment, lighting, and equipment make this stadium the best in the country.

It is worth especially noting the decorative lighting system. In the evening this stadium is perfectly visible even from an airplane. The dome over the stands is made of a special material that not only protects fans from precipitation, but also diffuses light well. This facade lighting system was called the “Flame of the East”.
