ALISHER NAVOI THEATER

In the center of Tashkent, not far from Amir Temur Square and the chimes, the State Bolshoi Theater named after Alisher Navoi is located - this is one of the few large-scale cultural and entertainment institutions in all of Central Asia. The abbreviation GABT stands for State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater.

The history of the attraction dates back to mid-1939. Higher authorities in the government of Uzbekistan set out to create the main cultural symbol of the country due to the rise of the national heritage of Uzbekistan. As a result, in the first half of the 20th century, the construction of the Bolshoi Theater began.

To create the project, it was decided to announce an international grand prize; a huge number of architects took part in it and presented many interesting projects. But the leadership of Uzbekistan found the project by architect A.V. Shchusev most interesting.

Unfortunately, due to hostilities in 1942, construction had to be temporarily stopped. And it was possible to resume the construction process only two years later. In recent years, Japanese soldiers who were captured were sent to construct the building.

In 1945, the establishment welcomed its first spectators. The chief architect A. Shchusev installed a fountain at the main entrance to the theater, which looks great in combination with the majestic building of the Bolshoi Theater. In 2010, a decision was made to modernize and improve the fountain; lighting and musical equipment were built into it.

To this day, this color and music performance attracts enthusiastic spectators. Having raised the population's interest in national and world culture, the Alisher Navoi Theater continues towards its goal and begins to prove its importance in world culture.

The main soloists of the theater tour the world and participate in national events dedicated to the art of theater. During the existence of the theater, a countless number of famous actors, conductors, ballet and opera dancers performed here.

The theater's repertoire includes, for the most part, classical productions of world classics. All kinds of performances and festivals of foreign artists are also held here.

The Canaan Travel team is confident that there is no better place for cultural recreation and no theater more significant for Uzbekistan than the Alisher Navoi Bolshoi Theater.
