Tashkent has a large number of park zones, which is quite unusual for a hot region. These zones include both entertainment parks and parks of culture and rest. Gafur Gulom Park is one of the largest in the capital. It is located in Chilanzare, the bedroom community of the city, right at the exit of the Mirzo Ulugbek subway station, across the road from the main football stadium Bunyodkor. By the way, during the major championships, the park is closed in order to maintain order and cleanliness in it.
The park’s location is so convenient that it is never empty. It is very crowded from March to November. Spring attracts here a lot of couples, both young and elderly. The park is opened early in the morning and closed by midnight. This is more than enough to enjoy cool and fresh air right in the heart of the urban bustle. It is believed that time stands still here and allows you to relax from the everyday routine.
The Gafur Gulam Recreation Park is a place where everyone can find their own way to relax. There are two lakes for romantic people where you can ride a boat or dream on something on the bank in the shade of trees. You can often find artists writing landscapes of the lake on canvas. Countless alleys, tracks, and paths loop throughout the whole territory, allowing you to walk slowly. In the morning, those who love healthy lifestyle run in the park.
Children can also find something to entertain themselves. A separate place is allocated for attractions with carousels. There are also a Ferris wheel, from the top of which you can see the city, extreme rides, and even a zoo. Entrance to the zoo is paid only for people over 7 years old, so you can take your children and introduce them to the animal world for free. On the shore of the lake, there is a beach where you can sunbathe or swim in summer. Also, you can take bicycle for hire, but you can go to the park on your own bicycle and ride along the cycleways.
Special attention is paid to cultural events held in the park. The book festival, as well as all international and national holidays, including New Year celebration are held here. Brass band performances are held on a regular basis. There is a separate dance floor for “Those Who’s Over Thirty” dance club. The orchestra, along with the vocal and instrumental ensemble, provide musical accompaniment at the club dance evenings. Everyone can take part in a dance evening or get a couple of lessons from the masters.
The park deserves to be considered as the one of the best green zones in the country. There are huge oaks, birches, spruce and pine trees, chinars, chestnut, linden, and many other species of trees, flower beds and lawns, we can continue endlessly. As well as endlessly walk here. Several cafes, where you can eat something tasty or drink coffee, and work in the park all day long.
